Is the Bible clear on suicide?

Is the Bible really clear about the punishment for those who take their own lives? Are they forgiven or forsaken?

There are six accounts of suicide in the Bible:
1. King Saul (1 Samuel 31:2-5)
2. Judas  (Matthew 27:3-5)
3. Abimelech (Judges 9:50-54)
4. Samson  (Judges 16:23-31)
5. Ahithophel  (2 Samuel 17:23)
6. Zimri  (1 Kings 16:15-20)
Since murder is condemned, is suicide abominable?
Here are 30 passages of the Bible we can learn from:
  1. Exodus 20:13

You shall not kill.

 

  1. 1 Samuel 31:5

And when his armor bearer saw that Saul was dead, he fell likewise on his sword, and died with him.

 

  1. Jeremiah 29:11

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, said the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
