‘I’ve never regretted joining YBNL’ –Adekunle Gold

Nigerian urban highlife singer, Adekunle Kosoko popularly called Adekunle Gold is one of the hottest music act in the country in recent time with a unique sound. Few weeks ago, the graphics designer cum musician released his GOLD album.

In an interview with ENCOMIUM Weekly, the Lagos State Polytechnic graduate discusses his album, ideal woman and other sundry issues.

 

Few days ago you released your Gold album, how would you describe the reception?

It’s been really amazing. I didn’t expect the love I have been getting since the album was released.

The release date for your album was slated for July 28, why did you decide to release the album before the announced date?

My team and I were so excited about the album and couldn’t wait 3 days for people to hear it. I just had an emergency meeting with the team and we decided to surprise everybody. Thank God it worked.

It was reported that you want to sue some blogger for leaking the tracks in your album, tell us about it?

Just a day after we dropped the album some bloggers were putting the album out for free and my team did well to bring some blog posts down. I never mentioned I wanted to sue anybody.

1-Aadekunle-Gold-2016Since you joined Olamide’s Yahoo Boy No Laptop Nation (YBNL) label, how would you describe the experience?

I have never had a day to regret I joined YBNL.

Any regret?

None.

Would you say you are fulfilled with what you have become today?

I am not where I want to be just yet, but I am thankful for the journey so far. God has been good to me.

What inspires your kind of Urban Highlife Music?

It’s my love for highlife and indie sound that inspired the genre Urban Highlife. It’s a fusion of both sounds.

What’s your take about the Nigeria Music industry, will you say it’s growing?

Nigeria is now a Hub for great music/sound. The world is beginning to tap into our sound. The Industry is growing so fast and it feels really good.

Define your ideal woman.

I love some career oriented woman, very hardworking and strongly believes in God.

How do you spend your leisure period?

Play games with friends and swim when I can.

After the Gold album, what should fans watch out for from Adekunle Gold?

Videos, tours and a lot of great things.
