Iya Kike 14: ‘She should not have died now’ – Don Richard

How would you describe the deceased?

She was my mother. The only thing I can just say is that, it pained me a lot. She should not have died now. This is the time she should be enjoying her good works in the industry. Even though I am a director, she still put me through some things. She would advice me on how to do things even while on set. She would advice me about my home because she would always say ‘Don, you are somebody I like so much, don’t allow the kind of job you do to disrupt your marriage. Always be prayerful.” I now feel the impact of her demise even on my job. I’ve done like eight movies after her death. She would have played a role in at least five of the movies. But now that she is no more, I feel her impact so much. But there is nothing anyone can do about it. We will all die someday. We just pray God preserves us.

How long have you known her?

It’s about 29 years now.

What effect will her death have on the industry at large?

She was one of the special advisers on the development of the entertainment industry. She played a great role in the industry. Even at the national level, there was no regime that she would not be made a special adviser. She always had a sit there. I’m not the only one that is bitter about her death, no one in the industry ever thought we would lose somebody like her.
