Jeers aplenty over PDP new slogan, convention woes

Nigeria’s main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Saturday May 21, held its party convention in Port Harcourt with the fall out generating a lot of controversies.

The removal of the party’s executive committee led by Ali Modu Sheriff was the highlight of the convention as Sheriff is presently fighting tooth and nails to retain the post. The party now appears to have been split into three factions at the moment with Ali Modu Sheriff, Ibrahim Mantu and Senator Makarfi all staking a claim to its chairmanship.

To cap it all, the party’s change of slogan from PDP ‘Power’ to PDP ‘Change the Change’ was met with disdain as twitter users slammed the party for what they considered a ridiculous attempt to counter the ruling APC’s change mantra that worked for them.
