Mr. Olujimi Kolawole Agbaje, a popular Lagos politician and the Chief Executive Officer of Jay Kay Pharmacy has denied being selected or nominated by PDP caucus in Lagos State as their gubernatorial candidate for 2015 elections.

The governorship candidate of Democratic People Alliance (DPA) in the 2007 general elections told ENCOMIUM Weekly specifically that he was not aware of his nomination by the PDP caucus and he was not even a member of PDP or any political party for that matter.

The rumour mill has the tale that Mr. Jimi Agbaje had agreed to be PDP governorship candidate in 2015 now that Senator Musilu Obanikoro has been appointed a minister.

The rumour has it that it was Chief Olabode George who made the offer to Mr. Agbaje, and he accepted on the condition if he joined their party (PDP) he would be their governorship candidate in 2015.

But in an exclusive interview with ENCOMIUM Weekly, Mr. Agbaje denied any such offer from anybody or political party.

Read his denial below…

Good evening sir, quite a while…

We’re still alive and kicking.

We have this information with us that you have been selected as the PDP candidate for Lagos 2015 governorship election. How far is this true, sir?

That is a rumour.  I don’t know anything about that. I am not aware of anything of such. Does a party choose its candidates just like that? I am not aware.

What we gathered is that now that Senator Musilu Obanikoro has been appointed a minister, the party elders felt the coast is now clear for you as their choice candidate in the governorship race?

As I said, I am not aware of that. The PDP I know from the outside runs primaries for their aspirants. That is why I said who would have nominated me?

Are you are a member of PDP now?

No, I am not.

Which political party do you belong to now?

I don’t belong to any.

Is there any likelihood that you will be contesting for the governorship of Lagos State in 2015?

I don’t know. But I know I have to join a party if I want to run for any office.

So, there is the possibility of that you may still join any political party of your choice between now and 2015?

Let’s wait and see.
