Hollywood was thrown into mourning yesterday (September 4) as sharp-tongued television star and comedienne, Joan Rivers, died in New York at the age of 81; her daughter – Melissa Rivers – has confirmed.
In a statement, Melissa said: “It is with great sadness that I announce the death of my mother. She passed peacefully at 1:17pm surrounded by family and close friends”.
The Fashion Police host went into a respiratory and cardiac arrest during a procedure on her vocal cords at a Manhattan clinic on August 28, but was taken off life support yesterday and moved out of intensive care into a private room, where she unfortunately passed on.
