The boss of ReelLaif Entertainment speaks…
Congratulations on your hugely successful Crack Ya Ribs Show in the UK and back home in Abuja, FCT?
So, how did it go in London and Manchester?
It was great. It was awesome and again we give God the glory. It is now an established tradition in the UK. People look forward to Crack Ya Ribs in London and during the weekend of Nottinghill Carnival. More so, it was the first time we were taking the show to Indigo.
And I am also grateful to Diamond Bank, who supported us. This was actually the first time we are doing Manchester. From London, we went to Manchester. I was later hosted in Paris, France, An Evening with Julius Agwu. It was again an introductory event.
So, we may be going to Paris soon for Crack Ya Ribs?
Yes, we are working on that. We are looking at the blue print.
What would you say was the high point of the UK shows?
For me, the high point was the presence of my governor, Mr. Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi at the show. I was really touched and honoured that he came. Nothing could be more exciting than hosting your governor. He came to see what we were doing. I’m sure he came, he saw and I believe he will also conquer (laughs).
How would you rate your artists at the show?
Everybody was on point. The only problem was that it was the first time we were having the show on a Friday. We usually do Sunday. The only day available at Indigo was a Friday, which was incidentally a work day.
A lot of people work that day, especially Nigerians. Because of that we had to wait for the venue to be filled up before we started. Again, most of the main artists didn’t have enough time to perform. There is something that is very peculiar with events abroad.
Once you are given a time, they mean that time and they stick to it. If you exceed the allotted time, you pay penalty. That was why we were in a hurry. But every artist was on point.
Why was May D not at the show?
What happened was that May D’s visa application wasn’t made on time because of the 2-day public holidays in Nigeria during that period. So, it affected his visa processing.
Has he refunded you?
We are on it but it is okay. We will sort it out.
It was already a calendar we had prepared. We had already planned that after the UK tour, on arrival, the train will move to Abuja. Which was exactly what happened in celebration of our independence. So, Abuja show was branded Independence Special in commemoration of Nigeria’s 53rd independence anniversary.
And based on our concept and colours, Heritage Bank came to our aid for the Abuja show. It was powered by Heritage Bank. Of course, Heritage Bank is our own bank. It is our heritage.
So, the show was equally successful?
Yes, it was. And I again we give God the glory.
What happened to the proposed tour of Canada?
It had to do with preparations for this Abuja show and some other engagements I had. I have Port-Harcourt Book Festival coming up. So, we decided to reschedule the show.
Now, you have a short break, what else?
I’m working on my album. We are already in the studio, preparing.
So, how is your Rejuvenate video doing?
People like it. A lot of people have been talking about it. We are pushing it. The major thing here is that it is a single. And I have rejuvenated (laughs).
With the year meandering into the last quarter, can you share with us some of your projects?
God has been wonderful. He has been awesome. The year is almost gone. Like I said, we have a lot we are working on. It is not everything we will reveal here before they steal our ideas. We would continue to push the brand.
Your second baby should be arriving soon?
How did you know?
If you have a choice, would you want a boy or girl now?
Anyone God gives us we would appreciate. And He is the Author and Finisher of our faith. So, I trust Him.
So, madam is almost ready?
By the grace of God.
