Kemistry, My Lagos, ‘Lagos hardens you up’

The one we all love to listen to, on the seaside station, Rhythm 93.7 FM can’t sand the terrible roads that abound around Lagos…

Where do you live in Lagos and why?

I live in VGC, Victoria Garden City. I don’t know why I live there, it’s just a nice place. Actually, my dad owns the house there and I stay with him.

Where were you born and where did you grow up?

I was born in Surulere, LUTH and I grew up emphatically everywhere. I’ve lived in over eleven countries.

What’s your earliest Lagos experience?

I lived in Bar Beach Towers and I guess that will be my earliest experience.

What do you like most about Lagos?

I like the fact that it hardens you up.

What do you hate most about Lagos?

I hate the roads. The roads are bad and whoever constructed the roads didn’t give us a drainage system. So, during the rainy season, we are in flood. The roads are not good for cars and all that.

What do you miss most when you are outside Lagos?

Ikoyi Hotel’s suya. I think they make the best suya in the world.

How do you move around in Lagos?

I move around in a Nissan Pathfinder.

Where do you shop in Lagos?

Anywhere I see good things. I didn’t really grow up here. From driving, I see something I love, I stop and buy it. I don’t really have a separate store.

Which is your favourite Lagos hangout?

Everywhere. I like the beaches, I like hanging outside the water maybe because in the other countries I lived by the beach. I went to school by the beach.

Who is your Lagos favourite celebrity?

I don’t have one. I like Nollywood, the actors and actresses.

What new project are you working on?

I’m actually starting to work on my music. I was going to do it in America but when I came to Nigeria it seemed very ripe and I am going to give it a go.
