Encomium
Contrary to rumours making the rounds that Kentucky Fried Chicken, popularly known as KFC, is shutting down operations, the fast food restaurant is growing stronger in Nigeria.
A visit to some of the outlets of the popular eatery revealed that it is far from folding up as we were made to believe. When encomium.ng visited the Ogba (Ikeja, Lagos) outlet of the eatery, it was yet to open for business but there were signs that activities and movements were taking place in the building, coupled with the mouth watering aroma swirling from the building. There was enough evidence that the place would be alive in a matter of minutes.
We spoke with one of the workers who pleaded anonymity about the closing down tale:
” It is not true that we are closing down business. Though I wasn’t on duty yesterday, the restaurant opened for business. We open by 10 am and close by 9pm. You can see that they have started cleaning in preparations for today’s business. I don’t know where the rumour is coming from.”
Our second port of call was the Ikeja, Awolowo way branch where activities have commenced for the day. All efforts to get an official statement proved abortive but it was obvious that the shutting down tale was just a baseless rumour.
KFC is an American fast food chain which specializes in fried chicken. They made their debut in the Nigeria market almost ten years ago, and offer tantalizing array of international menus they are known for across the world, especially their chicken. They have branches scattered around Lagos and its metropolis – Ikeja, Ogba, Ilupeju,VI, Yaba, Apapa to mention just a few.
