Los Angeles Lakers star, Kobe Bryant reached 32,293 career points to surpass Michael Jordan in third place on the NBA’s career scoring list after notching 26 points in a 100-94 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday (December 14) night.
36-year-old Bryant entered the game needing just nine points to topple the retired icon (32,292) with whom he is often compared. He got the mark with two free throws with 5:24 to play in the second quarter. He is now only behind former Lakers, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (38,387) and Karl Malone (36,928).
Michael Jordan, whose record he beat, said: “I congratulate Kobe on reaching this milestone. I’ve enjoyed watching his game evolve over the years, and I look forward to seeing what he accomplishes next”.
