Ladies advised on self-worth in new episode of Professor Johnbull

Popular TV situation comedy, Professor Johnbull, powered by telecommunications giant, Globacom, this week, advises young ladies of marriageable age on the need  to exhibit a sense of self-worth in their love relationships.

The episode entitled Meal Ticketenjoins would-be couples to comport themselves appropriately as the cerebral Professor Johnbull, the lead character in the series, played by the Nollywood veteran, Kanayo O. Kanayo, KOK, goes on a homily on the virtues that make love relationships work.

Jumoke (Bidemi Kosoko) dumps her boyfriend, Flash (Stephen Odimgba) owing to his lack of money and goes after a free loader who pretends to be rich but drives a car owned by another girlfriend unknown to the materialistic Jumoke. The man’s other girlfriend decides to let go of him when she discovers that her pretentious lover boy has been feeding off her. She strips the lover boy of all benefits including the car after which he faces Jumoke’s bad vibes.

Meal Ticket is a typical drama depicting a courtship  in which, most often than not, the female partners see and regard their male friends as their ATM  who should be responsible for every of their needs, without any attempt to graduate to independent and responsible self-respecting spouses.

Professor Johnbull seizes the opportunity to lambast young men whom he describes as “fine-boy-six-packs with no ambition to be responsible” who would rather feed off diligent, genuinely love-struck and generous ladies.

The verbose academic posits that although it is normal for boyfriends to assist their girlfriends financially as the needs arise and when they can afford it, ladies should refrain from regarding such help as their rights but privileges while adding that men tend to respect women who exhibit dignity and self-worth.

“Ladies, groom yourselves to be independent rather than being liabilities. You should not be commodities to be rented and paid for. Believing that you have to be paid for, for being in a relationship reduces your self-worth and limits your dreams of being an independent woman”, Professor Johnbull insists.

Regulars  of the sitcom who feature in Meal Ticket  include Elizabeth (Queen Nwokoye), Olaniyi (Yomi Fash-Lanso), Abadnego (Martins Nebo), Nje (Angela Okorie) and Jeroboam, aka Boam (Oita Iheme).
It is scheduled for Tuesday at 8.30 p.m. on NTA Network, NTA International on DSTV Channel 251 and NTA on StarTimes, with a repeat broadcast on Friday  same time, same channels.
