Lagos CBD to provide support for business improvement

Lagos State Government has re-affirmed its commitment to ensuring that the Lagos Central Business Districts sustains its recognition among other downtown areas of the world by providing necessary support for business improvement in the districts, enforce environmental policies and uphold rules and regulations.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Central Business Districts, Hon. Agboola Dabiri, who stated this during the 2017 Ministerial Press briefing in Alausa as part of activities marking the second-year anniversary of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode’s administration, disclosed that the Governor has approved the development of Lagos CBD electronic directory known as ‘Lagos CBD eGuide’ meant to provide verified information about real business, location of products and items by streets and by sector to shoppers and visitors to Lagos CBD from outside the State.

According to him, activities of fraudsters will be reduced by the eGuide as shoppers and visitors shall have access to verified and managed information about businesses, government and access to the right agencies for complete service and feedback.

Speaking on achievements of his agency, the Special Adviser disclosed that spotlight beamed on the Lagos CBD recently by the International Downtown Association (IDA) could not have come at a better time as major transformation, which includes ensuring zero tolerance to illegal trading and traffic offences, has been carried out around the State’s CBD.

He said “CBD’s target is to make places like Tinubu axis, Apongbon under bridge among other areas as modern as possible with demarcation of roads with modern day fencing all round. Traders there will be properly arranged, wear uniforms and comport themselves in a manner that will reflect intended desire.”

“The surrounding will be lighted up, just as some semblance of security will be provided for both traders and shoppers alike”, said the Special Adviser.

He added that Apongbon under-bridge will soon wear a new look with traffic jam becoming a thing of the past.

According to him, the State Government through the Central Business Districts will soon create a new motor park at Ajegboro, near Leventis on the Island where all yellow buses, popularly known as ‘Danfo’ will be moved to, stressing that when the project picks up, Danfo buses will have no business picking passengers on the roads.
