Lagos guber hopeful, Jimi Agbaje denies Mushin attack

PEOPLE’S Democratic Party (PDP) Lagos guber aspirant, Mr. Jimi Agbaje has debunked stories that he was attacked by hoodlums in Mushin, Lagos, while on a campaign tour of the area.
In a phone chat with ENCOMIUM Weekly on Tuesday, August 26, 2014, Agbaje, who spoke through the National Co-odinator of N4NL (For New Lagos), a nascent group sympathetic to his guber ambition, Alex Okoroji said, “Mr. Jimi Agbaje was not attacked by anyone or any group.  I just spoke with him and he confirmed that all is well and that the Mushin tour went very well.  He even commended the people for the warm reception they accorded him and his team.
“It was a mild case of accidental discharge by one of the security details who accompanied them.  He unknowingly corked his gun when they were rushing to get in the vehicle and depart the area. It was nothing serious and should not be blown out of proportion.”
Also confirming Alex Okoroji’s clarification, Agbaje told ENCOMIUM Weekly on Monday, September 1, 2014, he was never attacked in Mushin.  He rather commended the people for receiving him well, while promising to better their lives if elected governor in 2015.
Rumour mongers had gone to town last week with tales of how area boys and some disgruntled PDP members attacked the convoy of Jimi Agbaje.  The tale bearers went on to allege that the top guber aspirant’s security men had to fire at the protesters before they could free him and his men.
But the untainted politician has swiftly debunked the allegation as entirely false, even as one of his supporters explained what really happened in Mushin, Lagos, early last week.
A Lagos governorship candidate in 2007, Jimi Agbaje, who is gunning for PDP ticket in 2015, is on a tour of local government areas in the state.  In each of the areas he had visited, he had made it clear he is not campaigning but consulting and intimating the people and stakeholders with his serious interest in Governor Fashola’s job.
He also uses the opportunity to unveil his agenda for Lagosians.
And with endorsements from virtually all quarters, Agbaje is set to officially launch his guber campaign.
Jimi Agbaje is believed to be the anointed candidate of the ruling PDP.  The party’s leader in the South West, Chief Bode George has also endorsed his candidacy.
Reliable sources equally told us that a former guber aspirant now a minister has also been advised to shelve his guber ambition to rally behind the credible pharmacist, technocrat, astute leader and grassroots politician.
Another leading guber aspirant in the party has also reportedly assured Agbaje he would work with him if it would take him to deliver Lagos to PDP.
