Thursday, July 17, 2014, will certainly remain indelible in the memory of Hon. Semiu Kemi Surakat, the chairman of Ibeju-Lekki local government council (Lagos).
That was the day he turned 48 and also married his sixth wife. Probably, after offering prayers and thanksgiving to Almighty Allah for sparing his life in the last 48 years, he headed straight to Ikeja Marriage Registry, inside Ikeja local government council, on Awolowo Way, Ikeja, Lagos where he and former Ms. Kemi Fahm, were joined together as husband and wife. This was his 6th marriage while it was the second for Ms. Kemi Fahm.
Ms. Kemi Fahm, who is now addressed as Mrs. Kemi Fahm-Surakat is a reporter with Lagos Television (LTV). She is one of the station’s reporters anchoring Conference 57, a programme showcasing the activities of the 57 local government councils in the state.
She is 40 and has two boys from her previous marriage. One of the boys, Tobi, we gathered, is a student at Ado Ekiti University, Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti state.
Mrs. Kemi Fahm-Surakat, who is a graduate of English from Lagos State University, joined LTV about seven years ago.
ENCOMIUM Weekly gathered that she is now a proud owner of 2003 model gold colour Toyota Corolla courtesy of her new husband, Hon. Semiu Kemi Surakat.
She now lives in a new apartment rented for her by the chairman, somewhere in Ibeju, from where she goes to work every day.
Her father, we gathered, is chairman of Ijede Local Council Development Area of Ikorodu local government council. Hon. Semiu became the chairman of Ibeju-Lekki local government in 2011, when he replaced Mr. Bayo Balogun, the former chairman when he was the vice chairman. He is said to own a hotel in Epe, Lagos.
When we called the chairman on Sunday, July 27, 2014 evening, a lady whom we assumed is one of his wives picked the call and told us he was sleeping.
But when we asked her who she is, she told us she did not know and cut the phone.
The next day, Monday, July 28, 2014, in the morning we called the chairman again and a gentleman who claimed to be his personal assistant, picked the call.
He confirmed to us that the chairman got married to Ms. Kemi Fahm on Thursday, July 17, 2014.
He, however, declined to make any comment on the issue of whether Ms. Kemi Fahm is the 6th wife or not. He told us to call him back in another one hour and when we did the phone was switched off.
