Lagos safety commission to intensify advocacy at grassroots

The Director-General, Lagos State Safety Commission, Mr. Hakeem Dickson has reiterated that the Commission will not relent in its efforts to take safety advocacy to the grassroots in order to ensure safety culture among Lagosians.

Speaking at the Quarterly Health, Safety and Environmental Advocacy walk in Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government, Mr. Dickson said the agency will continue to partner with other government agencies to ensure that safety becomes part of our everyday activities.

The Director-General who was represented by Mr. Taiwo Akinoso, a Director, stated that the Commission will soon roll out strategies to improve safety in the State and urged stakeholders to support the initiative by partnering with the Commission to enshrine safety in all facets of life.

Also speaking, the Sole Administrator of Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government, Mr. Babatunde Ishola Rajh-Label, thanked the Commission for organising the advocacy.

A participant, Mr. Olukolade Olatubosun of the Lagos State Emergency Management Authority (LASEMA) said the ultimate aim of the safety walk was to protect lives and property and urged the people to assist the government by adhering to basic safety rules.

Other agencies that participated in the walk include the Area “G” Command of the Nigeria Police, RRS, LASEMA, Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) and Quick Touch Ventures – a Health, Safety and Environmental Focus consultant.
