Most Lagos private and public schools that are supposed to resume today, Monday, April 11,2016, are to wait for more weeks due to lingering fuel scarcity.
Some of these schools have now rescheduled their resumption dates. According to a member of the Association Of Private Schools Proprietors, Lagos chapter who confided in encomium.ng, the decision became inevitable in order not to inflict more hardships on parents and guardians who usually bring their wards to schools as some of them now find it difficult to fuel their cars as a result of the perennial fuel scarcity.
“Schools are no longer resuming today due to fuel scarcity. We all hoped the situation might have subsided before this week. But our hope was dashed when it became obvious that petrol won’t be available as promised by the Minister of State for Petroleum, Ibe Kachukwu.
“Now, the ugly situation has affected schools’ academic calendars for this term, and this wasn’t planned for. Even, pupils and students were also disappointed. Most schools will now be resuming on Monday, April 18, 2016 while some will reopen on Monday, April 25,2016.”
