Lagos State Government ‘Light Up Lagos Project’ in progress… part 6

Oba Ogunji inward Pen Cinema and Oke-Koto/Alfa Nla/Capitol in Agege area of Lagos State is the sixth in the series of roads illuminated with streets lights courtesy of the ‘Light Up Lagos Project’, a brain child of the Governor Akinwunmi Ambode-led administration, geared towards reviving the night economy in the state.

The Project which has become a pivotal initiative in the last eight months of the present administration is expected to spread across the length and breadth of the state.

So far, the project has seen the illumination of Third Mainland Bridge, Ikorodu Road, Ikorodu Town, parts of Agege Motor Road Inward Oshodi, Allen Roundabout, CIPM Road, Agidingbi Road, Ogunnusi Road, Wempco Road, Metal Box Road, College Road in Ogba, Hakeem Balogun Road, M.K.O Abiola Gardens inwards Oworonshoki and other major streets across the metropolis.

Aside improving motorists’ vision at night, the ‘Light Up Lagos’ Project has in no small way prevented criminal activities by hoodlums who hitherto take advantage of the dark to rob unsuspecting citizens of their possession.

The initiative which has received commendation from residents, according to Governor Ambode is beyond street lights, but the ultimate goal is to create Independent Power Project (IPP) clusters across strategic locations in the state so as to bring about 24 hours power supply in every nook and crannies of the state within the next two years.
