Lagosians unimpressed with local government elections

The final result of Lagos state local government election was released by the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) recently, and it indicated that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won four councillorship seats in the polls. A statement issued by the commission’s Director of Publicity, Mr Oladapo Olatunde, indicated that Accord Party also won three councillorship seats in the election.

The All Progressives Congress swept all the chairmanship seats and the remaining 369 councillorship seats in the 20 LGAs and 37 LCDAs in the state. The analysis of the results showed that nine out of the 12 parties that participated in the election did not record any win.

ENCOMIUM Weekly sought Lagosians’ opinion on how they felt about the recent election.

Here are they responses….

OLAWALE

We already know that APC will win the election, because they occupy the state and federal level. They used their influence to take over power. My advice to the elected people: they should ensure the masses enjoy the dividends of democracy.

ROTIMI ADUNOLA

I’m not happy with the results, those in power have done their worst. Kudos to them anyway.

TAIWO JANET TAIWO

Well, it’s left for them. I don’t have a say in the line of politics, they should carry on and keep up the good work.

TINA DORCAS

I am indifferent, I did not go out to vote. They have chosen their votes, so no need to waste my vote. I advice that they should live up to their responsibilities and they should not disappoint those that elected them.

ROFIAT KAMALIDEEN

Power belongs to the APC, we are not surprised. They would have even taken over all, why did they manage to pity PDP and the Accord party.
