The Speaker, members and the entire staff of Lagos House of Assembly were thrown into mourning today (Tuesday, July 18, 2017) when news of the death of Honourable Kazeem Ademola Alimi filtered in around 3.30 pm.Hon. Alimi who was representing Eti Osa constituency 1 in the Assembly, was said to have given up the ghost at Intensive Care Unit ( ICU) of Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja this afternoon (Tuesday, July 18, 2017) after brief illness.
An unconfirmed source told encomium.ng that he was vomiting blood before he was quickly rushed to LASUTH, where he has been for more than a week now before he gave up the ghost.
A graduate of Economics from Lagos State University, Ojo, he was in the Lagos State Civil Service and even worked in the same House of Assembly as a civil servant from 1992- 2001. He was later posted to Lagos Internal Revenue Service where he was the head of the CPO. He left the Civil Service to join partisan politics in 2010. He contested and won the Eti – Osa Constituency 1 seat in 2011. He won for the second time in 2015.
He was the House Committee Chairman for Local Government.
