Come Friday May 1, 2015, top American music star, Ms Lauryn Hill will storm Nigeria for Mayday Live show. The singer will be the headline act of the corporate concert put together scheduled to hold at the Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The multiple Grammy Award winner, who will be performing alongside other top local and international acts, also confirmed her visit on her twitter account thus “Ms. Hill will be performing in Lagos, Nigeria on May 1 with @maydayliveng”. Lauryn Hill is best known for being a member of the Fugees and for her solo album, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.
According to the organisers of the event, Mayday Live is aimed at celebrating workers’ day in Nigeria with a rich blend of entertainment, Mayday Live is a concept created with the aim of celebrating Workers’ Day holiday with a little more than just a day off. It creates an avenue for major firms to appreciate colleagues and co-workers by bringing them together annually to celebrate work ethics. It is basically a night of music, laughter and networking”.
This inception of Mayday Live begins with Grammy Award winner Ms Lauryn Hill, the only female or as stated ‘ Fugees 1st Lady “, with solo hits from her debut album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. The event will be her first time ever in Nigeria performing to a 20-man live band, with hit solo songs like her duet with Bob Marley Turn your lights down low, Sweetest thing and many more as well as hits from her former group, The Fugees – Killing me softly, Ready or not amongst others.
