When it comes to exploring fashion trends in universities, a lot goes into the equation. For many, it is an age of awakening, where one explores different cultures and experiments with different social behaviours, away from the safe havens that are home and school.

Here are some of the newest university trends. It is important to remember that university lasts between two and four years for most, meaning that campus fashion is forever changing, with fresh faces and styles coming every year, whilst some others exit unnoticed.

 

JUMPSUITS: These have been around for a while, but now they are really hot. There are jumpsuits for any occasion, both formal and informal styles.

CROP TOP: These have been around since the 70s and recently became more popular. They are great and can be worn casually. It can also be worn in elegant styles.

RIPPED JEANS

Popularly known as crazy jeans, they have been in vogue for a very long time. This is worn by both male and female. If you want to spice up your wardrobe, you need to have one or two pairs of ripped jeans. Buying ripped jeans can be expensive but you can rip your own with the right steps, materials and patience, quickly and easily.

FLARE PANTS

Popularly known as the Fela trousers. This wide leg trouser has been in fashion for many years, it goes and comes. It is now back as women who want to appear classy and stylish wear them for different occasions from formal to casual.

They also come in light waist. Flare pants look good on women as they draw attention to the ankle and hips. It’s also good for women who are short legged as it makes them look taller.

HEAD WRAPS

The head wraps have made their way into the fashion scene and are here to stay. Fashionable women wear head wraps in Ankara, tie and dye, kente fabrics and more. Ladies wear head wraps for different reasons. It can be used to cover up hair loss, or worn as a religious modesty, while some just love to wear it. It makes a lady look unique and daring.

My mood. It depends on how happy I am.

I buy online. Mostly on Jumia and Dealdey. Sometimes I go shopping on the Island.

How much does it cost to be fashionable?

You can be fashionable with less than N5,000 per dressing. All that matters is having a fashion sense.

Comfort and class. I love to feel comfortable in whatever I am wearing. if I’m uncomfortable in whatever I wear, I won’t feel

I am inspired by Genevieve Nnaji, Rihanna and Jennifer Lopez. These women know their body types and know how to make it work for them.

Where do you get fashionable items to buy?

I am not someone who orders my clothes because I don’t trust online stores. I go to boutiques for my clothes. I love shopping in Lagos and Port Harcourt. It’s always fun and I am always thrilled to see options.

How much does it cost to be fashionable?

I try to tell people that I am not fashionable, as I don’t have as much money as I want to buy as many clothes and accessories I want. I just love to look good. Looking good costs money. I try as much as possible to discipline myself, so, I don’t exhaust my allowance on clothes.

Comfort inspires my dress sense. I dress up with being comfortable at the back of my mind. I just want to be comfortable in whatever I wear.

I get my items anywhere. I see something nice, I buy. Sometimes I get them online.

It costs a lot to be fashionable, especially if you want something of good quality and texture.
