What sacked officials will lose
The three officials of Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) that were sacked by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State over the collapsed five storey building at Lekki Garden Estate, Kushela Road, Ikate Eleguishi, Lagos, certainly will be losing a lot of money running to millions of naira in terms of personal emoluments, allowances, perks of office and pension entailments.
For instance, the sacked General Manager, Engr. Olusola Adeigbe who is on salary grade level 17 automatically loses his monthly personal emolument of N500,000 – N550,000, fuel allowance of N100,000 – N150,000 monthly, office running cost of N100,000 to N120,000 monthly, entertainment allowance N20,000 – N50,000 monthly, and his pension of N10 million – N15 million. The only thing he will get out of this pension is his contribution which started in 2007. That may not be more than N1.5 million.
Mr. Gbadebo Dosumu and Mr. Thomas Adeyemi Adeoya, who were Zonal Head District Officers on salary grade level 14, with monthly personal emolument of N105,000 – N150,000, fuel allowance of about N35,000 monthly and their pension entailment which is between N4 and N5 million (depending on years of service). They are, however, entitled to their eight percent contribution to the pension since 2007, which may not be more than N1 million.
Mrs. Sherifat Adenike Akinde, the Zonal Head of Eti-Osa West, who was also booted out of office because of the collapsed building may have cause to thank God. She was not dismissed but rather compulsorily retired.
What she would only miss is her monthly personal emolument which as Grade level 15 officer is between N160,000 and N170,000. Being a zonal head, she will also be collecting a fuel allowance between the range of N50,000 and N100,000 monthly. This she will lose now that she has been compulsorily retired.
She will also lose all other perks of office like official car, entertainment allowance, etc.
She, however, has a cause to take solace in the fact that all pension entailments which is between N5 million and N6 million (depending on years of service) will be given to her.
