ON Sunday, July 27, 2014, ENCOMIUM Weekly visited Dr. Chris Okafor of Liberation City in his Ojodu, Lagos church headquarters, where the humble and brilliant preacher of the Word opened up on many issues, including his just concluded programme, Harvest of Babies, the recently crashed Airforce aircraft, his new books and much more.
Can you tell us about the success of the deliverance services in Liberation City recently?
Thank you for that question. This can only be God, and this is the mandate and commission that Jesus Christ gave to the church. The Bible says when He ascended on to heaven, He gave gifts unto men. Those ones He gave apostles, prophets, pastors, evangelists and teachers. Now, in Matthew 10, if you read verses one and eight the Bible says He brought all the 12 disciples together and gave them the power to cast out demons and to heal all manners of sicknesses and diseases. He gave them that power, absolute authority over them. So, when you see those kind of things being replicated we’re not doing it because we want to display power, we’re doing it because we have mandate to do it.
In John 3, the Bible says, No man can do all these on his own except God be with him. When we talk of miracle, there is no kind of miracle we have not witnessed or experienced in Liberation City. We have seen the dead restored to life, we have seen barrenness of so many years broken, we have seen the poor being restored, we have seen mysterious sickness and diseases that seemed medically and practically incurable being healed. A lot, including the healing of people with HIV/AIDS. We have also seen people with hole in their heart and God gave them new hearts. And more and more like that. All these can only be attributed to nothing but the grace of God. Nothing more but by His grace God has been awesome and faithful. Liberation City is not just a liberation city for nothing, it has become a Mecca of sort because people come from all over the world to experience what God is doing there, and they go back celebrating because of the mighty presence of God.
We just watched video clips of you casting out demons on a young man, a lot of people believe such a thing is only stage-managed, not real, what’s your comment on this?
Everybody has the right to believe whatever he or she wants to believe. That has not changed God from being who He is. Just like when you’re moving with your wife, and somebody says he doesn’t believe she is your wife or you’re her husband. So, whatever people will believe is what they will believe. The Bible makes something crystal clear, the god of these days has blinded the mind of people. Now, why? When Jesus was on earth, He did miracles, and these miracles were so outstanding that they couldn’t be denied. So, the only thing they could use to blackmail Him was to say He was using the powers of Beelzebub, that’s the head of demons. So, that means what they are trying to say is that they don’t believe such things can happen. But I tell you, they’re still happening again and again. Just be listening to Liberation City TV. Or what do you have to say about someone who was barren for 20 years, and the person gave birth? She gave birth miraculously. Can you stage manage a woman to be pregnant? Can you stage-manage a man that poverty is written all over his body to be rich? Things like this can’t be invented. Things like this can only be by the finger of God.
Can you tell us about the programme, Harvest of Babies which you rounded off today?
Harvest of Babies is something else. It is an avenue God gives me messages. Harvest of Babies is for women who are barren, who the enemies have stopped from bearing children, they come and God delivers them from barrenness and they carry their miracle babies. For instance, there was a man and his wife who have been looking for the fruit of the womb for long. After prophecies and prayers, they came to the church today to dedicate their miracle babies, twins. We have seen this from all walks of life. We have seen barrenness of 15, 19, 20 and 22 years broken. And this can’t be achieved except with God. In this same Harvest of Babies, we have seen miracles and manifestations, the power of enemies were disgraced. We saw women that their menstrual cycle had ceased, but miraculously they began to flow instantly. That can’t be anything but God.
You also had a book launch today, July 27, 2014, what’s the book all about?
The two books that were launched today were by the mandate the Lord has given me. God said go and rescue the church. By the mandate God is giving to me, I discovered there are people in the church who have serious problems and yet they are Christians. And some people have come to the conclusion that there is no God, that if there is God truly why are they what they are. But the truth of the matter is that there is God because Psalm 53 verse 1 says, Fools say in their hearts there is no God. But we know there is God. We know the reason for the misfortune they are facing. Their inability to understand, trace and demystify the mysteries behind the foundations of their suffering is their problem. One thing is certain, until you discover you cannot recover. So, it’s not about God not answering your prayer, it’s about you discovering the cause of your problem and dealing with it. Until you have taken a step, God will not take a step. These two books are wonderful. One of them is called, The Jinx Breaker. This is where the mysteries about people being in bondage is analysed. Why you’re in bondage. Why have you been passing through this cycle? You have prayed and prayed but nothing comes out of it. And we have another one, Dealing with the Enemies Behind the Scene.
Now, there are people that are being harassed demonically, spiritually and otherwise but they seem not to understand why they are going through what they’re going through. Or they still do not understand what’s responsible for their problem. So, because of that, this is my area. This is what I am called to do. When you come to the Liberation City, you see practically move of God, you see the enemies being exposed, being arrested. Sometimes, you see them confessing, and some people don’t even know that their enemy is somebody around them, enemy in the house. So, Healing with the Enemies Behind the Scene reveals how to deal with the enemies, detect them and their ways of operation. That’s what the book is all about.
Then, The Jinx Breaker talks about solution, how to destroy yoke of wickedness. In fact, that’s one of the best Christian books in recent times. People are ordering for it from all over the world. It’s not about whether you’re a Christian or not. This is about revelation, this is practical terms, telling you the truth. You don’t need to be a Christian before you know that this is what happened to my father is now happening to me. Why is it that this thing that happened to my grandfather happened to my father and is happening to me? It becomes a cycle, and when it becomes a cycle it’s a curse. And when it becomes a curse it has already become a jinx. Now, how do you break a jinx? That’s what was revealed in the book. And those that have gotten heir copies are already being blessed through it.
Can you tell us one thing that’s unique about Liberation City?
Liberation City is not just a church, it’s a supernatural institution and movement. Liberation City is a place you learn, you know more about God. You feel the presence of God. People talk about God but they don’t experience the presence of God. One thing is to talk about money, another thing is to see that money. One thing is to say I am rich, another thing is to notice the impact of that money in your life. God lives forever. He is the Creator that was not created. The Bible says the earth is of the Lord and the fullness therein. So, when you understand that He is God of prosperity, you will see the manifestation practically. That’s what made the God of Liberation City unique. Liberation City is not just a church, it’s a house of solution. Imagine people who are barren, and they have gone to so many churches, praying and praying and there was no solution but they came and God told them this is what to do. They carry out the instruction, and instantly they see a turn around. And why I say it is not a church, Jesus said have you not heard that the House of my Father shall be called the House of Prayer. Liberation City is a place where we pray and God speaks His mind and reveals mysteries that demystify mysteries.
How do we place Dr. Chris Okafor, a prophet, pastor, apostle or what?
Dr. Chris Okafor is not just a prophet. He is a combination of supernatural operation and manifestation. What do I mean? It depends on what you understand by an apostle, a pastor, a prophet, an evangelist and a teacher. Now, when you see Dr. Chris Okafor operating in all these, what will you call him? If God gave all these gifts to one man, that means God sent that man on a mission, and the mission is not just for Africa, but for the world. That means I am a man of God sent to the world.
We have also watched a video clip where you predicted that an aircraft or helicopter carrying people in uniform will crash, and that the nation needs serious prayer to avert it. But about four days after, an Airforce aircraft crashed. Can you shed light on this?
This is not the first time. There are major things that have happened to either individuals or communities following our prophecies. Go to the record book of our prophecies, you will see warnings to nations, and all these things that happened. It was in a church service like we normally do according to what God reveals to us. There was a message that there was going to be an international flight that will crash that will involve a lot of people. Also, there is another one that will happen in Nigeria and this one has to do with military men that are in uniform. One thing is that when God reveals, He wants to redeem but one thing is for you to say it, another thing is for the people in the appropriate quarters to heed the warning. So, you can’t force people to yield to the warning. For instance, I tell you God says you should not go and die but you decide to die, there is nothing I can do in that kind of situation. But God reveals. According to Deuteronomy 29 verse 29, it says He reveals to redeem.
But some people say when you see such a thing, as a prophet of God, you should have also prayed to avert it, did you do such?
Like what I said, God reveals. There are some things you can prayerfully avert and there are some things that group of people need to carry out some instructions for those things to be averted.
