‘It was very challenging’ -LISA HENRY OMORODION (Producer/Cast)

On Friday, January 23, 2015, delectable actress Lisa Henry Omorodion, premiered her first movie, First Cut at the Silverbird Cinemas, Victoria Island, Lagos. The premiere had in attendance colleagues from the movie industry, Ebube Nwagbo, Lancelot Imaseun, Daniel Lloyd, Yvonne Ekwere, amongst others, music industry, Oritsefemi alongside family and friends, who took out time to support her. However, ENCOMIUM Weekly had a chat with two of the cast of the movie and here is what they said about their roles and what they think about the movie…

How do you feel today?

I feel very great and happy as everyone came out here to support me. It is not easy for you to just abandon whatever they are doing to come out here to cheer me up and to celebrate me. I feel really honoured.

This is your first movie production, what inspired it?

I was inspired by the zeal to be a very great actor in the industry. So, I wanted to do a movie that could easily relate to everybody at the same time and decided to pick a strong topic like rape to tell the story or to address the issue.

How challenging was the movie?

It was very challenging because I was working with veterans in the industry so I had to perfect my act in order to be the best, so they appreciate me for the work I am doing. Although, I had to give respect to whom it’s due. That is, give respect to actors and actresses who got into the industry before me. It was really challenging because I was new and a first timer but I learnt a lot and I know my next movie is going to be better.

How were you able to get the likes of Monalisa, Joseph Benjamin in the movie?

I would say, it was pleasant because I approached each of them and here they are. I wanted them on board because they are role interpreters and this helped them interpret their characters perfectly.

Tell us about your role in the movie?

It was very challenging as I happen to be the rape victim who struggled so hard through the incident. It is a very touching and ecstatic role that people must watch and love.

Being the first time of acting, how did you fit into the role?

I cannot even say how I managed to pull that off but my director helped out a lot because my role was very epic and it’s something people will understand and relate to.

What message is this movie passing across?

This movie is already an awareness campaign about rape, how it can affect human lives and an individual.

What major lesson should be learnt from the movie?

People should learn that human beings are strong individuals and you can overcome everything if you put your mind to it and not let anything scare you.

How much did the movie gulp?

I can’t disclose the figures right now but I know I have spent a lot of money.

What else should we expect from you?

Something new is cooking and hopefully, the movie should be out before the end of the year.

Who directed the movie and why?

Chico Ejiro directed because he is a family friend, a veteran in the industry and I have always wanted to work with him. Also, I wanted him to be the first person I would work with.

‘The movie is a must watch’ -Monalisa Chinda (Cast)

Monalisa Chinda (3)How did you join the train of the movie?

The movie director, Chico Ejiro called and told me that his little cousin wants to do a film, and he wants me to be part it as a family.

Tell us about your role in the movie?

I played the role of a tycoon and a fashion designer in the movie.

How challenging was your role in the movie?

My role was not challenging at all because I love what I do and how I do it. I had fun all through the shooting of the movie. Aside the usual logistics issue, it was a smooth sail for me.

What can you say about the movie?

First Cut is a film that I feel women must watch because it reaches out to them a lot. The film talks about the life of a girl who was brutally raped and she tries to find her feet back again and became the best.

What are some of the lessons to be learnt in this movie?

You have a whole lot to learn in it. It teaches us that, no matter your challenges, do not allow whatever that has happened to you steal your joy, potentials or take away who you are and make you believe you are not good because of what you have been through.

What do you have to say about the producer of this movie?

As a young girl, she has done so well because it is not something she stumbled into. I am sure she is pursuing her passion to start up well which she did and I am sure her next movie would be much better. She may not be all over the place at the moment but she would get there.

What do you have to say to your fans and what should they expect from you this year?

I love them a lot and I want to try as much as I can to encourage each one of them as they are encouraging me. In 2015, they should expect a lot from me.
