Lump in your breast might not be cancer

Women who have lumps in their breasts go for check regularly to see if it’s cancer related.  Breast surgeon, Dr. Michelle Mullans at the BMI Hospital, London revealed that not all lumps in a breast is cancer.

According to her, lumps in breast happen to women in their 40s and 50s. These lumps are termed lumpy breasts or fibrocystic breast. This is caused by fluctuations in the hormones estrogen and progesterone during a woman’s cycle.

During this cycle, there is usually a thickening and enlarging and sometimes pain which often subsides later.

Cysts is another common cause. These are smooth, fluid-filled balls that form in the breast. It occur in women aged 35 to 55. It happens when levels of estrogen drop. In the lead up to menopause, the body usually responds by making a cyst. When there’s constant pain, it’s advisable you see a radiologist.

She suggests eating soya beans and  vegetables, and regular exercises will stop the growth and stimulation of lumps and pain around the breast. But if you still have regular breast lumps, taking a test is more advisable.
