Manchester United offers £100 million for Pogba

With Real-Madrid losing interest in French midfielder Paul Pogba, Manchester United look set to break the transfer record in a bid to land the 23 year old with a whooping £100m fee from Juventus.

Manchester United were reported to have tabled an offer of £100 through CEO Ed Woodward. The offer which included an £87 million fee and an additional £13 million in performance-related add-ons was said to be rejected by Juventus as the Italian giant insisted on a £100 million plus £8 million in add-ons.

If the deal pulls through, Pogba will be the most expensive player in the history of the game and he would earn about £250,000 a week, shattering Real Madrid $146 million (£85 million) transfer fee for Gareth Bale from Tottenham Hotspurs in 2013.

United manager Jose Mourinho seems to be pushing seriously for the deal as he expressed his desire not to work with some of the young players in the squad like James Wilson, Tyler Blackett and Guillermo Verela, who have been omitted from the team pre-season tour of China.

It was also reported that Pogba’s name was scribbled on Jose Mourinho’s tactics board. The report broke out when Jose Mourinho’s wife, Matilde posted a picture on Twitter of her husband getting ready for China pre-season tour. The tactics board was spotted behind the Portuguese and some eagle eyed fans were able to spot Pogba’s name among other names scribbled on the board.

Meanwhile, Juventus is said to be lining up Chelsea’s Nemanja Matic and Newcastle’s Moussa Sissoko as possible replacement for the French young star.

Real Madrid apparently lost interest in the young star after his little above average performance at the recent European championship in France.
