Melissa Reid writes from Peruvian prison, warns youngsters off drug smuggling

Convicted drugs smuggler, Melissa Reid, has warned youngsters not to follow her “crazy” lifestyle and land into trouble in a diary entry she wrote from prison and sent to her parents.

She wrote, “A year ago today, if someone was warning me of the dangers of drugs smuggling, I would probably tell them to f*** off. And how I would not be so stupid and how it would never happen to me”.

Melissa, from Lenzie near Glasgow, along with her accomplice – Michaela McCollum – were jailed in Peru last year after they admitted trying to smuggle cocaine worth £1.5 million. The pair were dubbed the ‘Peru Two’.
