ENCOMIUM Weekly spoke with the maiden winner of Miss Fair and White Gold, Tiana Dimoke, who was visibly elated by her new status. The 22-year old third year student of University of Benin also shared with us the qualities that earned her the coveted crown and N1.5 million prize money and more…

Congrats on your victory as Miss Fair and White Gold?

Thank you, sir.

Can you please, tell us more about you?

I’m 22, a third year student of Philosophy, University of Benin, Edo State. I’m from a family of 11 including my mom and dad. I’m the fifth, six girls and three boys. But early this year, I lost my elder sister. Most of my sisters are married. I’m in school with my younger sister. We live here in Lagos.

How did you know about Miss Fair and White Gold beauty pageant?

I got the message on Facebook and BB.

What do you think gave you the edge over the other equally beautiful contestants?

I’m a unique person. I’m also outspoken and very sociable.

What were the stages of qualification you went through before getting to the final stage of the competition?

I got the form, went for audition after which I went for the pre-contest and here we are today.

So, you didn’t know anybody here?

No, no, no, I’m a total stranger (laughs).

What exactly did you win?

I won a brand new car, 2013 Nissan model and N1.5 million prize.

How would you spend your money?

I don’t know yet.

How does it feel to win a car at your age?

It feels good and great. I feel on top of the world.

So, what would change about you now you are a beauty queen and brand ambassador of Fair and White Gold?

I think everything about me will definitely change. My mode of dressing, places I go, my friends and what I do in public.

So, you will dump your boyfriend?

I don’t have a boyfriend, sir (laughs).

What would you be looking out for in your man?

I’m not all that choosy or selective.

What do you generally hate in men?

I hate men who lie.

Have you been lucky in your relationships?

Yes. Please, let’s not go this personal. Thank you, sir.

You are definitely grateful to God who has made you a beauty queen with all the perks of the office?

Sure. I’m very grateful to God Almighty. In fact, when they called out my name, the first thing I did was to say a thank you prayer to God.

Career wise, where do you go from here?

My journey has just begun. I would go into modelling and become a fashion icon.

Is this your first experience in pageantry?

No. I have been involved in a lot of pageants before now, Calabar Carnival Queen, Miss Nigeria, Miss Tourism Badagry which I won three years ago, Miss Campus, World Miss University/Model of the year. I started in SS 2 (secondary school).

What do you do to look this beautiful?

Thanks for the compliment. I watch what I eat and work out regularly.

What is your take on Fair and White Gold range of cosmetics?

They are the best in the market. People thought it is only for fair people, but through me, the story has changed. I’m dark and beautiful and I’m representing the brand. So, it is obvious Fair and White Gold range is also for us dark people.
