Mixed reactions greet Buhari’s war against corruption (3)

President Muhammadu Buhari’s fight against corruption has sent jitters down the spines of some corrupt public office holders. And the exercise has started yielding the desired results.

Although, some Nigerians have been criticizing Buhari’s approach, alleging sentiment and partiality. Those that ENCOMIUM Weekly sought their views on the issue also poured out their mind…

‘THERE’S NO SUBSTANCE TO IT’

– Saheed Bello

It’s all noise and screaming headlines in newspapers. There’s no substance to it. And this was one of the things I was afraid of when APC was campaigning. Their campaign was built on propaganda and they have continued in the same vein. I expected a lot more tact and seriousness from Buhari, maybe I expected too much. But I’ll still keep my fingers crossed and observe events as they unfold.

‘WE HAVE JUST BEEN HEARING THAT THE PRESIDENT WILL DO THIS…’

– Wale Adegboyega

We have just been hearing that the president will do this, he will do that to corrupt officers. No concrete action has been taken yet. I prefer action to noise. They should learn to take action than to make noise. Making noise will let it seems he is inactive. His tenure will soon be over and we will see if he actually worked or not.

I will advise him not to be distracted on his goals and aspirations.

‘THE PRESIDENT HAS TAKEN THE RIGHT STEP IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION’

– Abosede Adebowale

The President has taken the right step in the right direction. I will like the two major political parties to stop the war of words going on. I don’t think it is nice for them to be displaying their selfish interests in public.

He should be a good example to the two major political parties, it is not about the party’s selfish interest but about moving Nigeria forward.

‘I AM IMPRESSED WITH THE ANTI-CORRUPTION’

– Cecelia Alero

I am impressed so far by Buhari’s anti-corruption crusade. If he can continue in that spirit, it’s definitely going to move the country forward. It takes a lot of courage and bravery to declare war against corruption in a country like ours where a cabal dictates the tune of governance.

I really salute his courage and I think he should be given kudos for how far he has gone for now in that.

‘HE SHOULD BE ENCOURAGED TO FORGE AHEAD’

– Yekini Ojo

Buhari’s war against corruption is a step in the right direction. I think he should be encouraged to forge ahead. I strongly believe that at the end of it all, we shall all enjoy. The only advice I will give him is that he should leave no stone unturned.

He shouldn’t have any sacred cow, be it in the ruling All Progressives Party (APC) or Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
