Nigeria has been ranked 37th out of 52 countries in Africa by the Mo Ibrahim Foundation on governance. The Mo Ibrahim Foundation was established in 2006 with a focus on the critical importance of leadership and governance in Africa. Nigeria’s rank this year is an improvement over the 41st spot in 2013.
According to the latest Mo Ibrahim Index of African Governance 2014 released yesterday (Sept 29,2014), the country scored 46 percent in governance index. Overall, Nigeria was scored 52 percent on category and sub-category ranks.
The under listed countries ranked 1st to 10th positions in these recent ratings…Maurititus 81.7(1), Cabo Verde 76.6(2),Botswana 76.2 (3),South Africa 73.3 (4),Seychelles 73.2 (5) Namibia 70.3 (6),Ghana 68.2 (7), Tunisia 66.0 (8),Senegal 64.3 (9) and Lesotho 62.3 (10).Somalia with 8.6 ranked 52, coming last.
