Moh’med Fawehinmi faults verdict of Saraki’s asset declaration trial

‘It’s a political arrangement’

Human rights lawyer, Mohammed Fawehinmi has faulted the Wednesday, June 14, 2017, verdict from the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) of Senate President Bukola Saraki who was earlier charged for false declaration of assets before the Code of Conduct  Bureau (CCB).

Speaking with encomium.ng on Thursday, June 15, 2017, the brilliant legal practitioner described the judgement  by the tribunal as a charade and a mere political arrangement. He added there’s nothing to celebrate in it.

“First, it’s a joke. Also, a mere political arrangement. There’s nothing in the judgement. If you see jubllation in the camp of Saraki, you will understand what I am saying because those who charged him knew exactly what they wanted but they were disappointed. The same thing goes for the case of Godsday Orubebe, former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs who was recently cleared of the fraud charges levelled against him by the ICPC.

“Anyway, most Nigerians are disappointed in the All Progressives Congress (APC) already. Let’s just keep watching what will be happening before 2019.”

Senate President Bukola Saraki was on Wednesday, June 14, 2017, discharged by the Code of Conduct Tribunal sitting in Abuja, laying to rest the long dragged false assets declaration case against the influential politician.
