The death rumour spread by mischief makers about President Muhammadu Buhari has been trailed by more troubling tales capable of heating the polity unnecessarily.
Many more damaging information have been circulated as the Presidency adopts “we can’t be worried to address a rumour” stance.
Some of the tales being bandied on social media are enough to scare away investors and those who care about Nigeria.
Here are some of the fall-out rumours:
- Northern governors as well as leaders, traditional rulers and politicians from that region met to find ways and means to install a Northerner as President.
- Governors met to discuss how to force the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, to resign to pave way for Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, as President.
Saraki had to deny any such plan.
- The Inspector General of Police led a delegation to the President in the United Kingdom.
Meanwhile, he was there on the invitation of the Metropolitan Police. The trip had nothing to do with the President.
