MTN Nigeria rewards winner of AMVCA Best Short Film Category

MTN Nigeria was a proud sponsor at the eighth edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) which was recently held amid fanfare, glitz, and glamour. The award ceremony was held at Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, on Saturday, May 14, 2022. 
A consistent supporter of entertainment, arts and culture, MTN Nigeria proudly sponsored the award category for Best Short Film or Online video. This is in line with the tech brand’s position as a strong collaborator for digital inclusiveness, cultural innovation, and African excellence. The edgy short film aptly titled “I Am the Prostitute Mama Described”, was written and produced by Taiwo Ogunnimo, a captivating writer and producer who was the winner of this award category. In addition to the award plaque presentation, MTN Nigeria also awarded Taiwo N1 Million, MTN broadband router + 1 year subscription, and lots of other goodies. On ground to receive the gifts on behalf of Taiwo was Korede Soyinka, the director of the award-winning short film. Commenting on the occasion, Adia Sowho, Chief Marketing Officer, MTN Nigeria said,
“Art, entertainment and Fashion are part of the cultural bedrock of any society — AMVCA provides a platform for these elements to be celebrated. MTN Nigeria’s partnership with MultiChoice on the award ceremony is testament to our commitment and support of outstanding talent and achievement in television and film.” 
Some notable faces at the event include Toke Makinwa, Bonang Matheba, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, Uti Nwachukwu, IK Osakioduwa, Adunni Ade, Funke Akindele, Shaffy Bello, Osas Ighodaro, Adesua Ewatomi-Wellington, Nnegi Hampson, Nnegi Hampson, Denola Grey, Bisola Aiyeola, Erica Nlewedim and a host of others.
