MUIZ BANIRE elected APC legal adviser

DR. Muiz Banire, the former Lagos Commissioner for the Environment has been elected the substantive Legal Adviser of All Progressives Congress (APC), a position he has been holding in acting capacity since the formation of the party.

Dr. Banire was amongst other party members who emerged winners during the party’s national convention in the early hours of Sunday, June 15, 2014.

Banire, before his election, was the interim legal adviser of the party, a position he held in substantive capacity in Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) before the party merged with other parties to form All Progressives Congress (APC).

He was also a member of Lagos State cabinet between 1999 and 2011 where he was the Commissioner for Special Duties, Commissioner for Transportation and Commissioner for the Environment.

After his 12-year stint in the cabinet of Lagos State, Dr. Banire went back to his first love and profession – law practice – and opened an ultra-modern law chamber on Mobolaji Bank-Anthony Way, Ikeja, Lagos.  He also in conjunction with his junior colleagues in his law chamber launched a law book called the The Blue Book, on Thursday, October 31, 2013.

Others who emerged victorious at the APC convention included Chief John Odigie Oyegun, who became the National Chairman of the party, Engineer Segun Obi, the Deputy National Chairman South, Senator Lawal Shuaibu, Deputy National Chairman North.  The party’s National Secretary became the lot of Mallam Ibrahim Bala Gubi and Hon. Orji Ugofa, his deputy.

Mr. Pius Oloye Akinyelure, a close friend of Bola Tinubu from their days in Mobil Nigeria Ltd., emerged the party’s Vice Chairman, South West, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, another old ally of Tinubu retained his position as the party’s National Publicity Secretary, while Chief (Mrs.) Kemi Nelson, the Woman Leader of the party in Lagos State, emerged the Zonal Women Leader, South West.
