Mumuni tasks Muslims to sustain virtues of Ramadan

Renowned security expert and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Amb. Abayomi Nurain Mumuni has enjoined the Nigerian muslims to maximize the abundant rewards that come with the month of Ramadan and sustain the many virtues taught by the holy month afterwards.

Mumuni, who contested for governorship race in 2011 under the defunct CPC in Lagos state, in a Ramadan message on Thursday, rejoiced with all the Muslim Ummah in Nigeria and the entire world for witnessing this year’s Ramadan fast, urging them to use the month to strengthen their relationship with Allah.

Mumuni, who described Ramadan as a rare opportunity that is rife with Allah’s forgiveness, blessings and emancipation from hell-fire, said that the month calls for serious engagement in rewardable acts of worship.

The Aare Jagunmade of Lagos (1), who is President Muhammad Buhari’s “political siamese twins” for many years, said: “The Ramadan is all about fasting with sincerity to attain piety and the pleasure of our Lord. It is a college on its own where our faith and soul could be easily nurtured and filled with piety.

“Essentially, the fasting is not merely restricting oneself from eating and drinking from dawn to sunset alone, it transcends that. We are expected to use the month to strengthen our relationship with Allah through numerous righteous deeds. Our mouths, eyes and every other parts of our body must be grossly engaged in remembrance of Allah. This is how we can feel the impact in our souls”, he added.

The author of Global Terrorism and its Effects on Humanity stressed that the month was meant to teach us how to live in peace with our neighbours irrespective of their creed, and extend hands of love and brotherhood to fellow brethren.

Mumuni, however, commended President Muhammadu Buhari for his pro-active steps at combating the menace of terrorism in the country.

He expressed hope that the Boko Haram insurgency will soon be a forgotten issue, urging Nigerians to be patient with the President.

He said: “I am without doubt that God purposely made Buhari’s victory possible to rescue Nigeria from the claws of its tormentors.

“His pro-activeness in combating and curtailing Boko Haram scourge is very encouraging. With the steps taking so far, the sect will soon become history. Nigerians should be patient with him.

“I have known Buhari for many years, have been very close to him politically. I have been with him on this political journey since 1999 in the APP and I know him very well. I know inside out his political philosophy. I understand his psychology, I can read his body language without him saying a word. And I can declare he is committed to straightening this country. He is passionate about how he can turn Nigeria around on to the path of greatness and cares nothing about personal gains.

“He lives such a disciplined life of contentment that material acquisition means nothing to him. It’s only if we don’t want to be fair that we will say Buhari is not different from his predecessors on integrity looking at his style of governance in the last few weeks. Since Nigeria’s return to democracy, this is the first time the people are having a true leader in every sense of the word.”
