Muna Obiekwe to be buried Feb. 3

On Sunday, January 18, 2015, Nollywood’s heartthrob, Muna Obiekwe embarked on eternal journey when he lost his long-running battle with kidney disease in a private hospital in Festac Town, Lagos. The remains will be laid to rest on Tuesday, February 3, 2015.

This much was made available to ENCOMIUM Weekly by the Actors’ Guild of Nigeria (AGN) Chief Whip, “Empress Ene”.

According to the guild’s release containing the fallen star’s obsequies, he will be returned to mother earth in his Umudioka, Anambra home state.

The burial is to kick-off with a candlelight procession on Sunday, February 1, 2015. The procession will take-off from Masha Roundabout, Surulere, Lagos, at 4pm and terminates at Ojez, National Stadium also in Surulere. T-shirts for the procession will be made available for free.

The 38 year old married thespian’s death came as a shock to many, including his fans, colleagues and family who are still to recover from his sudden demise.

The Songs of Sorrow star had battled with a protracted kidnap-related illness, but lost unfortunately  deeming his budding light.

Controversies have, since, trailed  his death with many claiming he kept the ailment to himself and refused to seek assistance.

Muna, as he was fondly called by those close to him, featured in over 150 movies in his illustrious career.

ENCOMIUM Weekly’s efforts to speak with the deceased’s wife, was rebuffed as the star’s friends and colleagues shielded her away from the media.

We also could not gain access to his 6th Avenue, Festac, Lagos abode and the private hospital, also in Festac, where he died.
