‘Music is my life’ -Timileyin Obanla

Timileyin Obanla is one of the talented up and coming artistes in the Nigerian music industry. The young man is a musician, producer and CEO of Fahdriguez Entertainment. Timileyin is the son of Chief Alex and Princess Elizabeth Obanla, the founder and President, Association of Women Freight Forwarders, Lagos, Nigeria. In a chat with ENCOMIUM Weekly, he talked about his love for music and more.

You are an up and coming music act, tell us more about yourself?

My name is Timileyin Obanla. I attended Canadian University, Dubai, I’m currently studying Music. I am from a family of six. I am the first son. I have a brother and two sisters.

How long have you been doing music?

Professionally, I have been doing music for three years.

Did your love for music start from childhood?

Yes.

What inspires you?

I am inspired by the things happening around me, the people I work with, although they are weird, but they have kept me going.

What genre of music do you specialize in?

I do afro-pop, but I don’t limit myself. I also do RnB, reggae and fuji. So, I am sure I can fit into any genre of music.

When are you dropping an album?

My album is not ready yet but I dropped the extended play on May 3, that’s why I am having an album listening party.

Can you please ention artistes you have done collabos with?

I have worked with a number of up and coming artistes. I am also planning to work with Small Doctor, Reekado Banks. Right now, I have not worked with an A-list artiste, but soon I will.

What label are you signed to?

I am signed to Fahdriguez Entertainment. I own the record label and I am the CEO as well.

What does your music teach people?

It actually depends on the song. There’re some songs I do just for people to dance and I have songs that talk about things happening. For example, I have a song which talks about a young guy dating an older woman. I do a lot of dance songs and few moral songs.

Apart from music, what else do you do?

Everything I do is actually into music. I am also a producer. I have produced music for lots of up and coming artistes.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

I believe and I know that in five years I will be one of the top artistes in Nigeria, because I know I have what it takes, the quality, the voice, the looks, almost everything. I like to dance too, and my fans will be seeing a lot of that in my videos when they drop.

I have two videos receiving airplay now. The first one is You Wanna Wife Me and the other is Omode Olowo.

Do you intend to work with your first degree certificate?

No! That’s why I am attending a music school now. I love music and that’s what I want to do. With God, everything is possible.
