‘My beauty and agility won me the crown’ – Most Beautiful Girl in Lagos, LINET EBUBE

LINET Ebube emerged the Most Beautiful Girl in Lagos at the contest held on Sunday, May 31, 2015 at Bespoke Event Centre, Lekki, Lagos, after lots of auditioning.  In an interview with ENCOMIUM Weekly, she spoke about herself, love life and lots more…

Can we meet you?

My name is Linet Ebube.  I am from Imo State.  I have a certificate from Aviation School as a flight dispatching personnel.

How do you feel wining the Most Beautiful Girl in Lagos?

I am pretty and also smart.  I am happy I won this crown because it’s just a way of pushing me into the world and achieving everything I couldn’t achieve as a normal girl.

What prompted you into this beauty competition?

First, I was not interested, but a friend of mine encouraged me to buy the form. I was the second to the last person to buy the form.  I went for audition and I was chosen.  I went to camp and it was so stressful at a point I wanted to quit.

So, how did you manage?

It was pretty good but we had to do lots of activities but it’s worth it.  It’s a nice feeling being a beauty queen, people want to meet you, they want to take pictures with you.

DSC_0012Tell us your experience in camp.

I had a wonderful experience because I am very friendly.  When you are not smiling, I am smiling and even if one doesn’t want to talk to me, I talk to you.  I enjoyed the dance lessons, the catwalk, meeting people, sleeping with other girls on the same bed.  Although, I couldn’t eat because we practiced for about six hours a day on heels.

Have you been into beauty pageant before this

I have attended one before, that was in school in my faculty.

Are you intimidated wherever you go?

No, my boyfriend would always say I am so full of myself. I have my advantage.  My mom says I am light; wherever I go, I shine.  A beauty queen shouldn’t be intimidated.  At camp, some of the girls were scared of me.  Some were already feeling they would win.  The day I was crowned Most Beautiful Girl in Lagos, I didn’t believe it but it happened.  I cried on stage.  I was only afraid because I didn’t want to fall on stage.  I had stage fright.  My shoes were also hurting me, but I believed it was all for good because the Bible says I will lift the humble and it just happened.  I actually fasted in camp for three days because I wanted to win.

So, what do you plan to do during your reign?

I want to set up a foundation, an NGO, then I want to set up a swim suit line because I have looked everywhere in Lagos and I haven’t seen where they really sell nice bikinis.  The NGO will empower women, help save lives of women and children and put a smile on their faces.

What were the prices you won?

I got a car and shoes and a makeover kit.  Others are yet to come.  It’s a Kia Rio car, but because it’s not branded yet, they have not delivered it to me. I got a free spa treatment for six months also.

Were you in a relationship before you went for the pageant?

Yes!

So, how did your boyfriend react to your emergence as a queen?

He didn’t support it but I will show him that I am still the same girl.  Being a queen won’t make me change my attitude towards him.

When you won, what was his reaction?

He said congrats.  He was happy but afraid, I guess.

What was your mom’s reaction?

She was happy.  She likes me being a model.  She was at the final.

What is the secret of your beauty?

I have a beauty routine.  I have to take my bath twice a day, morning and night so I won’t have rashes.  I like to wear deodorants, drink a lot of water to stay hydrated and moisturised.

Now that you are a beauty queen, what will change about you?

Not much, I have to watch what I eat to stay fit so people won’t think I am not worth the crown.  Sitting in a position and smiling even when you are not too happy, especially when I am at an event, don’t dance too much and lots more.  It’s a bit boring. It’s just the event aspect that is interesting because I get free tickets for big events.

What is that thing people don’t know about you?

I can get very emotional but little things piss me off, so anything I don’t do to anyone is because I don’t want it to be done to me.

What is your advice to people who want to become beauty queens?

Just believe in yourself because the competition is really strong.  People will discourage you, but don’t rest on your oars, keep moving.
