Can we meet you?

My name is Faith Amos but my stage name is Easystar. I am a graduate of Solar Energy from LASU. I started as an electrical engineering student before changing my course.

IMG-20150628-WA009Why the choice of music, why did you leave a lucrative profession for music?

I couldn’t concentrate on anything without thinking about music. I believe I cannot serve two masters, it is better to stick to one, so, I decided to drop everything about engineering for music.

How will you describe the journey so far?

Since I started professionally in 2008, God has been helping us, it has been easy and difficult at the same time. At times, I feel like quitting when hard times come, but one thing has kept me moving on, the fact that there are people who know the name, Easystar, they will be waiting to listen to my song, it wouldn’t be nice to disappoint them. That has kept me going over the years.

What genre of music do you play?

I do afro hip pop, but as an artiste, you don’t box yourself to a particular genre. The inspiration you get might produce an entirely different genre from what you do, it could also turn up finer than you think.

Tell us about the record label you are signed onto?

I am on Fabulous Music. Though quite new, it is a wonderful platform. It is owned by my brother, Amos Nsikan Udo.

Why are you signed to your elder brother’s record label?

He believes in me and he has been a source of encouragement. He decided to invest in my career, that is why I am signed unto his management.

What was your parents’ reaction when you told them you were going into music?

They felt bad and disappointed. My mother didn’t support it, she insisted I should do gospel music.

There are a lot of artist out there, how do you intend standing out?

I am a creative person. I just don’t go to the stage to perform. I have stuffs that will make my fans remember me for long. I am also a good dancer. I use my style of dancing to hold the crowd for a long time.

How do you get inspiration for your music?

I like listening to beats first. My childhood experience also helped a lot. When I listen to beats, life in the hood comes flooding back and I get the right lyrics to it.

Tell us about some of the songs you have done?

I have done about 25 songs, Sexy Lady, Joromi, Imma Imma, Your Love. Your love will drop on July 17. It was inspired by the state of things in the society. I believe, we all need to show love, the world will be a better place if we do.

Who are your role models in the industry?

Flavour and Presh. I love their style of music. I have been following Presh for quite a while now, he is a talented artiste.

When should we expect your album?

It is in the offing. We are working on it, we are also working on the video of my song. I have a superb producer, Supernonskie, he is just like my twin brother.
