‘My deal with OLX just an ad thing,’ says SEYI LAW

POPULAR comedian, Seyi Lawrence, a.k.a Seyi Law, is taking his comedy career to the next level, basking in the euphoria of landing an advert deal with OLX.  The stress reliever opened up on the one-year deal with the company and his upcoming comedy lounge and bar, amongst other things when he had a chat with ENCOMIUM Weekly on Thursday, October 17, 2013.

What exactly is the deal between Seyi Law and OLX?

The deal with OLX is just an advertisement thing.  It is just Seyi Law shooting an advert with different episodes.

What do you think is the reason behind OLX opting for Seyi Law amongst other comedians?

I want to say it’s because they’ve seen my brand, based on the advert I did recently with Samsung, they believe it’s a brand they can identify with and also the best person they can work with.

Why did you accept the offer?

They offered me a good amount of money.  OLX is also a good brand bringing change to Nigeria. It also promotes Seyi Law as a brand.  So, I have no reason to decline.

How long is the deal?

Just for the period the advert will be on air, which is just a year.

What is the offer like?

It’s in millions of naira, but I won’t disclose the exact amount.

Apart from Samsung and OLX, what other brands do you represent?

I did an advert for IVEES, which is an innovation in the market right now.  I also have an endorsement with Nairabet.com.

Apart from these brands, which other brands would you love to work with?

I would really love to work with lots of brands.  For instance, a telecommunication company like Glo, but I wouldn’t want to name any brand.  I wouldn’t decline if called upon by a bank, and maybe a drink company if the offer is good enough.

Would you say endorsements have been lucrative?

Basically, endorsement gives you the bulk of cash you need to do other businesses.  Comedy brings money but endorsement gives you more publicity and money.

Much have not been heard about your show in London, what happened?

London Must Laugh with Seyi Law started in 2012.  The first edition during Easter of 2012. The second edition also held during the Easter of 2013.  We are working on Lagos Must Laugh with Seyi Law to make it bigger and better.

What is the next thing for Seyi Law?

Right now, I’m working on my lounge and bar.

Can you tell us about it?

It is called SL’s Lounge and Bar and it will be opened on November 25, 2013 in Ikorodu.  It is a comedy bar with business facilities.
