Fair-skinned Bukola Adeeyo is gradually rising to become one of the most sought after actresses. She has been under Adekola Odunlade’s tutelage for a couple of years now.
ENCOMIUM Weekly had a chat with her about her foray into acting…
How will you describe the journey into the movie industry?
It has been good and rewarding. I started in 2008, when I joined Odunlade Adekola Films Productions . My brother took me to his place. That was how I started. Thank God he has been there for me. And kudos to Mr. Odunlade Adekola for all his effort.
Can you share some of your challenges with us?
I don’t really have much challenges. The only challenge is that, at times, when someone invites me to location, at the end of the day, I may end up not working. It is not that I am not good but one way or the other, you will just realise that it didn’t turn out as planned.
So, what are you working on now?
I will hit location again for my own movie soon. I will produce a new movie entitled Omo Ni Kara. It is a crime story which is going to be a talk of the town. It will be directed by Odunlade Adekola.
Which was your first movie, and which movie shot you to limelight?
My first movie was Ila Owo and the film that shot me into limelight was Sunday Dagboru.
Can you tell us other movies you have produced?
I have produced two movies Ajinigbe, Olaide Oyinlomo and I am cooking something at the moment. Don’t worry, you will be the first to hear about it.
You are one of the most sought after actresses at the moment, what is the secret of your success?
It has been God and prayer, hard work, dedication to work. I don’t give up easily, no matter the challenges.
Who is your mentor and godfather in the industry?
Mr. Odunlade Adekola is my mentor and my godfather. It is only when you are close to him that you will understand his personality, he is a mentor indeed.
What is the source of your inspiration?
I draw inspirations from people who have gone ahead of me in this profession, the likes of Odunlade Adekola, Fathia Williams, Iyabo Ojo, Funke Akindele and Toyin Aimakhu-Johnson. I can’t emphasize enough how much I have learnt from them. Following their good leadership qualities have made me a lot better.
Aside acting, what else do you do?
I am also into business. I sell lovely goodies to friends and colleagues.
What dictates what you wear?
Comfort first. Then if it looks good on me, I go for it.
How do you handle your male fans?
I really appreciate my male fans. They are the ones who made me relevant in the industry. Most of my male fans turn out to be my friends.
Tell us about yourself and background.
My name is Bukola Adeeyo. I was raised by disciplinarians in Ibadan, Oyo state. My parents are into business. I am the first child of my parent.
