‘My marriage is intact’ -Ex Soccer Star, John Fashanu cries

Former soccer star, John Fashanu has rubbished tales that he has separated from his wife, Abigail Igwe. The former Wimbledon FC of England striker frowned at the tale insisting he and his wife, who is the mother of former beauty queen, Adaeze Yobo are still very much together as husband and wife.

According to Mr. Fashanu who spoke about the development to ENCOMIUM Weekly on Sunday June 1, 2014, “It is not true, not at all, what rubbish? I and my wife are still married we are not separated, why would we part?” John Fashanu also revealed that he and his wife were together at a wedding last weekend, “I and my wife were together at Senator Joy Emordi daughter’s wedding last weekend. We had a nice time together we both reside in Abuja and we are happy. I would have loved you also speak with my wife but am not at home now. I am driving right now, disregard such rumour”.

fashanuHowever, in the past two weeks, rumour of break up between John Fashanu and his lover of almost five years has been flying around, this is coming because the lovebirds have not been sighted together in public. Whereas they used to hold hands everywhere they went and since the rumour of their planned wedding died, both of them have been very quiet, fueling speculations that the fire of their romance might have died down. Rumour also has it that Abigail, an Abuja based practising lawyer is reported to have been spending more time in Nigeria than UK where Fashanu is based. But Fashanu maintained he and his wife are resident in Abuja and not the UK.

The two were married at an Abuja marriage registry in 2011, after dating quietly for a while. Sources disclosed that they made the decision to be husband and wife with their children consenting to the move. After their registry wedding, they planned a quiet white wedding which is yet to materialise, three years after they signed the dotted lines.

Fashanu, 51, has two children from former wife, Congolese beauty queen, Melissa Mapsi and another from a previous relationship. While Abigail Igwe, 47, has four children from her first marriage which ended by divorce 12 years ago.
