‘My mother told us about her death before she died’ – Toyin  Kolade

On Monday, October 17, 2016, Madam Comfort Adejuyigbe, mother of business mogul and CEO of Fisolak Global Resources Ltd, Princess (Dr.) Toyin Kolade, passed on at 92. However, a week before her death, Mama Alayeere, as Adeguyigbe was fondly addressed, was said to have had the premonition of her death as she urged her children to give her a befitting burial any time death beckons.

This and much more the successful business woman told ENCOMIUM Weekly when we visited her in her Oko Oba, Lagos residence on Monday, October 24, 2016.

We commiserate with you on the death of your mother despite the fact that she was old.

Thank you.

How would you describe her death?

It’s painful no matter how old she was. She died at 92, glory be to God. But as a loving and caring mother, I wouldn’t have loved her to die now. But who am I to query God? I was in Ife the day she passed on. I was at the birthday of Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi.

It was there something struck me around 7pm when she passed on, and I told those around me that something had happened to me. My mom had died. That was how I left for Lagos state and met her dead truly. Her death was painful but we glorify God for her life well spent.

What would you miss most about her?

I will definitely miss her. She’s my mother and has been with me for about eight years. So, I will surely miss her. She was such a wonderful mother whom I was proud of throughout her life time.

What would she be remembered for mostly?

Though, mama is gone, I will continue to remember her for her early morning prayer for everybody around her. She was a prayer warrior. She loved Jesus Christ a lot. I will miss how she used to go round the estate, evangelizing and praying. She would be telling people to accept Jesus Christ as their savior.

She loved everybody, she loved Jesus Christ, she loved God a lot. She always prayed and prophesied for the people around her. If you know mama very well, you will always like to be around her because of her motherly advice and prayer.

Was that the reason she was nicknamed ‘Mama Aladura’?

Yes, she was known as Mama Aladura and Mama Alayeere.

Are you mama’s first child?

No, how can I be the first child, when mama was 92? (laughs). I am the last born.

When is her burial taking place and how prepared are you for that?

That will be announced later, but by the special grace of God, preparation is very much on ground. As you can see from the video clips of her last chat with us, that was about seven days before her death. We celebrated her last birthday on October 10, 2016. In the interview, mama told us we should make sure we celebrate her call to glory elaborately any time God calls her.

We should make sure everything is okay. We should celebrate her to high heavens and ensure we give her a befitting burial.

That means her burial is going to be carnival like?

I know many people love my mother and a lot of people also love me and I love everyone too. So, by the special grace of God, we will give her a befitting burial because she was a great woman and very caring mother to all her children and everybody around her till death took her away from us. Mama was born in October, died in October. For that alone, I know she was a great woman.

Would you say she lived a fulfilled life?

Of course, she did. Everything she planned to have in life, God gave her. On top of it all, she accepted and loved Jesus Christ. So, I love everybody reading this interview to emulate her by accepting and loving Christ as well. People should shun evil things if they want to meet Jesus Christ.

Mama told us seven days to her death that she was going to heaven to meet Jesus Christ. She even told us she was going to meet her husband that he was waiting for her. She said she saw a taxi packed outside, that we should take her to Ijoka, her husband house in Ilesa. Everything is contained in the video of her last interview with us.

That means mama herself had premonition of her death?

Yes, of course. When you’re close to Almighty God, you will surely know.

Did you also know she would soon pass away?

Yes, I also knew. As you can also confirm from the video of her last chat.
