NERDC recommends Glo Mobile tutor to Nigerian students

The National Education Research and Development Council, NERDC, has commended Globacom for designing Glo Mobile Tutor which it described as a comprehensive and affordable application that would revolutionize education in the country.

The Council’s Head of Information Technology, Mr. Christian Obi who stated this at the launch of Glo Mobile Tutor in Lagos on Friday confirmed that the application took cognizance of the national curricula for primary and secondary schools, adding that it would be reviewed regularly.

He said the contents of the application were developed painstakingly and videos produced to enable an average student self-teach himself.

Also speaking at the launch of the app, the Lagos State Chairman of National Union of Teachers, Comrade Segun Raheem commended Globacom for the initiative which he said would complement the Lagos State customized laptops presented to teachers and wean students from the home video and games addiction.

Welcoming guests earlier, Globacom’s Sales Director, Glo 1 Enterprise, Mrs. Bolanle Ogundogba said Glo Mobile Tutor placed the power of education within the reach of every child in all the 774 local government areas of Nigeria.

“Glo, having realized that there’s a relatively low literacy rate in Nigeria and Africa due to lack of infrastructure and sufficient manpower needed to impart knowledge, found the need to introduce this service to complement the efforts of relevant authorities, ”Mrs. Ogundogba added.
