New research links baldness to prostate cancer

A new study which was published this month in the Journal of Clinical Oncology in the United States of America (USA) has linked male baldness to an aggressive form of prostate cancer.

According to the study, men with baldness in both the crown and the front of their heads are more likely to develop an aggressive form of prostate cancer late in life.

The study used data from the US Prostate, Lung, Colorectal and Ovarian (PLCO) Cancer Screening Trial, and found that men with crown and front-of-head baldness at age 45 were found to be 40 percent more likely to develop a form of aggressive prostate cancer, which usually means faster tumor growth.
