Ngozi Nkoloenyi hosts society’s pillars @ daughter’s wedding (1)

SOCIETY big wigs and those that matter honoured foremost designer, Lolo Ngozi Nkoloenyi and the Nwakwe’s with their presence, support and gifts as Ogechi Valerie and Nnamdi Edwin said, ‘I do’ on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at the Catholic Church of Presentation, Oba Akinjobi Street, GRA, Ikeja, Lagos.  The reception held at Excel Hall, Billings Way, Oregun, Lagos.

THE HEAVY DOWNPOUR

It was indeed a day of showers of blessing for the lovely couple, Ogechi and Nnamdi when the heavens opened and let down heavy downpour before the event commenced.

Only the early comers did not feel the impact of the rain, others were drenched to their teeth.  The rain started at 12.20 p.m, while the service commenced at 12.30 p.m.  In spite of the heavy torrent, the turnout was exceptionally impressive.

COUPLE’S GRAND ARRIVAL

Class and glamour were on parade when the bride and groom came into the venue.  The groom, Nnamdi Edwin and his best man came in a black limousine, while groom’s men followed in exotic cars.  The bride, Ogechi Valerie rode in a white limousine.  Their arrival signaled the beginning of the colourful occasion.

COUPLE’S LOVE STORY

The groom, Nnamdi Edwin is the son of Mr. Emmanuel Udemezue-Nwakwesi and late Queen Nwakwesi.  The bride, Ogechi Valerie is the daughter of late Chief Paul Nkoloenyi and Lolo Ngozi Nkoloenyi.  They met two years ago, became close and flagged off their romance.  Their meeting was at a friend’s baby shower – and they became inseparable ever since.  When Ogechi informed her mother that she had found love, she gleefully approved it.  The groom’s father was also ecstatic.

THE ENTRY VISA

Apart from the golden cream and tan orange invites for guests, a small access card came with it. Only those who presented the card were granted access to the venue.

FIFI EJINDU, HUBBY WERE EARLY COMERS

The Abuja-based businesswoman and prominent architect, Fifi Ejindu and her husband honoured the couple at the fabulous wedding.  Their presence was quite noticeable as they showed their influential support to the couple.

MRS. NIKE AKANDE TOO

She could pass for another bride. The fair-skinned beauty came when the service was on.  She wore a white gown with glittering embellishments.  She had a gold hair accessory to complement her dress sense. She did not wait till the end of the service, she left around 2 p.m.

GRACE EGBAGBE CAME ALSO

Society pillar and power dresser, Grace Egbagbe was not left out. She walked in while the service was on.  She was in a sleeveless black and white gown, a hair piece to match and complemented it with monochrome shoes.  She joined in singing some of the hymns.

MORE THAN ENOUGH SOUVENIRS

Thumbs up to the organizers and planners of the wedding.  They had handful souvenirs right from church.  Each guest went home with a big umbrella because of the rain.  Goody bags were handed to each person as they stepped out of the church.

TIGHT SECURITY

No guest was allowed inside without an invite.  The second stage was at the entrance of the marquee.  Even with your invite, you wouldn’t be allowed in without the access card.

THE SECOND SOUVENIR

As guests passed the security man, three well dressed men were already smiling and handing another souvenir to guests apart from the ones distributed in the church.  Other ones followed as guests settled down in their seats at the reception.

THE DÉCOR

The hall was well decorated in class and elegance.  Chairs and tables had the colours of the day, silver, white and tan orange.

ABOUT 2706 USHERS

Adeola Okeshola of 2706 sure knows her onions.  Her ushers were very polite and warm.  They made sure everybody had a nice time.  They were in grey peplum gown and flat heels with beautiful silver and white hair piece.

WHO DID WHAT

Adeole Okeshola’s 2706 Events was the event planner, drinks were supplied by Lamba’s Bar, cocktails from Majestic Kitchen, dessert by Hilado Delicia; Ahuoma Kitchen and Malas were in charge of food while small chops were from Sea Cruise Chops.

The bride got her outfit and accessories from Valerie Bridals for Sofia Tolli, while the groom’s suit was from an Italian designer, Boggi Milano.

IN HONOUR OF THE DEPARTED

A minute silence was observed for the soul of the departed, the bride’s father, Chief Paul Nkoloenyi and the groom’s mother, Mrs. Nwakwesi.  Their pictures were placed on the stage that housed the small marquee where the bride and groom sat.

ITA GIWA FLEW IN FROM CALABAR

She couldn’t have been left out considering the beautiful and robust relationship between her and bride’s mother, Ngozi Nkoloenyi.  The power dresser was at the reception.  She wore a grey attire mixed with gold ensemble with a tan orange headgear.

MOTHER OF THE DAY

Olori Ladun Sijuwade lived up to her title.  No stone was left unturned as she let all hairs down, supervising and making sure things were in order.  The amiable woman who wore a cream and brown iro and buba also led the opening prayer.

COMPERE

Ayo Ogundalaye, popularly known as MC Saco did a wonderful job.  The talented rib cracker laced his performance with fresh jokes to everyone’s delight.

Today’s Woman boss, Adesua Onyenokwe assisted him.  The two worked effortlessly and made every minute a great delight.

IT WAS HER BIRTHDAY

The beautiful bride, Ogechi Valerie had a double celebration.  Apart from the wedding, it was also her birthday.  A special surprise gift was presented to her by her family.  A beautiful cake with a gigantic bottle of champagne were presented to her by two ushers.  The bride was excited and joyous.

THE BOUQUET

The bride did not throw her bouquet like the usual custom.  She requested to hand it over to a friend, Ijeoma. According to her, Ijeoma is the bride in waiting.  She will be getting married next year.

FEMI PEDRO AND LANRE OGUNLESI IN THE HOUSE

The duo of ex-deputy governor of Lagos, Chief Femi Pedro and one of Nigeria’s best dressers, Mr. Lanre Ogunlesi were in the house.   They came towards the end of the event.

…AND THE RICHEST WOMAN IN AFRICA

Mrs. Folorunsho Alakija, the richest woman in Africa was one of the special guests.  The well dressed woman, alongside Chief (Mrs.) Nike Akande and Rear Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu were all special guests.

MORE THAN ENOUGH TO EAT

There was more than enough for everyone.  Guests were treated to a six-course meal.  There was pepper soup, bread, rice, African salad (Abacha), asun and small chops.  Assorted drinks and wines also flowed ceaselessly.
