Nigerian Idol contestant drops brushes and wands for the microphone

After a successful career in the United Kingdom, a Nigerian make-up artiste returned home for an opportunity to be the Voice of Tomorrow at the Nigerian Idol Lagos auditions.

Born in Nigeria, raised in the United Kingdom, Adebola Adeyoye popularly known as V.E.R.A (Voice Every Race Accepts), decided to come back to her roots to showcase her vocal talent through the Nigerian Idol platform.

“I have studied a lot of people in the industry like Tiwa Savage and Omawumi, and I believe I have what it takes to get to where they are today,” said a confident Vera.

Singing Big White Room by Jesse J, Vera stole the hearts of the judges with her soulful and very professional version of the song.

“I am just going to affirm that you have been the best voice here today and give you a golden ticket,” said an impressed Dede.

Nigerian Idol airs on Saturdays and Sundays on HIP TV, STV, various Startimes Channels, DRTV Warri and CRBC Calabar.

Award-winning producer, Dr. Frabz unveiled as music director on Nigerian Idol

Africa’s biggest music reality show, Nigerian Idol has announced a new music director for its fourth season as the competition gets set to separate the wheat from the chaff for the Top 30 rounds.

Acting as the music director this season is award-winning producer/singer Ayo Faboro, who is well known as Dr. Frabz. He started his own music production company called N’sayne Entertainment and has produced smashing hit songs like Chuddy K’s Slow Slow, Shank’s Too Late and Weird MC’s Riranwo, among others.

“I expect that this season we will be able to help the best of the contestants to shine,” said Dr. Frabz.

Dance, drama and theatrics as top 64 Nigerian Idol contestants get ready for top 30 stage

With 64 contestants fighting for a spot in top 30 stage of Nigerian Idol, the heat is definitely on. Theatre auditions, which also serves as the boot camp stage of the competition, remains the hardest, nerve-racking and emotional part of the entire show. But amidst all these, one of the eight groups in the Top 64 delivered a wonderful performance.

GROUP SINGING ONE NATION BY TIMI DAKOLOWorking with a one-time hit song, Runaway by 3-man band, Styl-Plus, one of the groups at the Top 64 round of Nigerian Idol gave a stellar acapella rendition with dramatics that paid off just fine.

“Well done and good job,” said an impressed Dare.

One nation, eight voices, one competition!

The biggest music reality show in the continent is all about taking risks and one of the groups of 8 in Top 64 took a great risk with their group acapella performance.

Performing one of Timi Dakolo’s hit songs, One Nation, the group that comprised of Vicci, Blessing Isaac, Daniel Buba, Onyinyechukwu Udodi and others gave a unique rendition of the song.

Unfortunately for the group, Blessing Isaac didn’t hit the last note right and the judges, especially Dede, referred to it as a disaster.
