Flavour N’abania leads with 4 awards at NMVA 2013

THE seventh edition of Nigerian Music Video Awards, staged at Muson Centre, Onikan (Lagos) was dominated by highlife star, Flavour who went home with four trophies!

The creative performer carted home awards in Best Indigenous Concept for Ada Ada; Best Use of Costume, Best Highlife Video and Video of the Year categories, beating Olamide and D’Banj who went home with one trophy in Best Afro Hip-Hop Video (for Durosoke) and Best Cinematography by Matt Max for Don’t Tell Me Nonsense respectively.

Other winners are Amaray Oke Nbagi, Best Gospel Video; Ozzybosco (Tinini Ft. Olamide), Best Video by Minor; Black Magic (Repete), Best Soft Rock Alternative Video; Orezi (Rihanna), The Best Dancehall and Reggae Video; Chidinma (Emini Baller), Best Pop Extra Video; Sean Tizzle (Sho Lee), Best Video by New Act; Clarence Peters, Best Video Director; Dr. Victor Olaiya, Lifetime Achievement Award; Banky W (Yes or No), Best R n’ B Video; Sound Sultan (Natural Something), Best Use of Visual Effects; X-Project (Azuka), Best Contemporary Afro Music Video; Ice Prince (VIP), Best Afro Hip-Hop Video; Burna Boy (Run My Race), Best Afro Beat Video; Matt Max, Best New Director; 2Face (Blood on the Dance Floor), Best Afro Pop Video.

Anchored by D1 (Dayo Adeneye) and Iretiola Doyle, this year’s NMVA was a modest event, but stars of music honoured Cally Ikpe, the show’s executive producer whose Live Beats was a fore-runner to music video shows.
