Durex, a condom manufacturing company in the United kingdom, carried out a survey to ascertain the level of unfaithfulness amongst women in different countries.
Speaking with 29,000 women in 36 countries, the result revealed Nigeria as topping the chart.
Durex survey taken across Asia and Africa revealed that Thailand men are the most unfaithful in the world, with 54 percent of them admitting to cheating on their spouses. South Korea came second with 34 percent, while Malaysia ranked number three with 33 percent. Nothing was said of American women or women in Europe.
The survey revealed that the top two countries with cheating women are Nigeria, with 62 percent, and Thailand, 59 percent. 39 percent of Malaysian women also confessed to having betrayed their partners. Russian women came fourth at 33 percent while Singaporeans are fifth at 19 percent.
Another independent survey also conducted in Africa affirmed the fact that Nigeria, with a population of over 160 million tops the chart for cheating women. ENCOMIUM Weekly sampled opinion of Nigerians about this assertion…

I will like to change that. Not all Nigerian women are faithful in marriage.
Why did you say so?
Some are there for material things. Some want a comfort zone, some to bear the surname and be called “Mrs” while some are in for love. Because of these things stated, those who are interested in the material things are not getting so much from the marriage. They don’t get sex, money, comfort, so they look for it outside.

To begin with, Nigeria has the highest population in Africa, so comparing them in a research of such is not portraying a good level playing ground. Besides, generalising in a research is not a welcome idea but that is not a reason to utterly discard such result.
Why did you say so?
Looking at the survival strategies of most Nigerian women. It may be right to say that the research may be true. A lot of women put their hands in dirty things just to belong.

I don’t have unfaithful women around me. I know a lot of women who are dying just to keep their homes despite the men’s unfaithfulness and irresponsibility. Whether the woman involved is treated like a queen or not by her husband, all depends on principles.
As a matter of principles and upbringing, I will rather divorce my spouse and know I am single before seeing another man. I can’t do it while I am under his roof.

Why do you say so?
Nigerian women are submissive and respectful despite all odds. Most women are decent. Once they are married, they stick to their marriage because of integrity, their children and societal values.

I am shocked! Who did the research and came to this conclusion. Nigerian women, from what I have seen, are the most enduring and faithful in marriage.
Why do you say so?
Most of them go through physical and verbal abuse yet they stay by their men and never looked out. They believe that once they are married, they are married.

I will give a dissenting opinion. Nigerian men are the most unfaithful in the world.
Why did you say so?
Reason being that it is believed that it is a man’s world. Because of that they cheat. A Nigerian man can decide to have an affair without remorse. But few Nigerian women cheat though. But one can’t compare the ratio of men who cheat to that of women.

Truth be told, Nigerian women strive to be faithful to their spouses, so I think it would be unfair to say that they are unfaithful or the most unfaithful in the world. That’s erroneous.
Why do you say so?
From my findings, Nigerian women are faithful to their marital vows, even when infidelity holds sway in their marriages. A huge number of women are still very faithful and that is a fact. I have a lot of faithful friends around me and also believe that should be the position of other women in marriage.

I have a friend that told me three of his secondary school mates are interested in him. They are all married but seem to be interested in the guy because he is not living in the same city his wife stays. And the women are not apologetic about it. I think the older you are, the more responsible you become. Those who are newly married are still vibrant and want to catch fun. Some do it for the love of materialism, some because they want to belong to the click. A friend of mine told me her class mate is always out shining her, so she decided to show her as well. You can imagine what such a woman will do if she has the opportunity to cheat on her husband. She really wants to belong.

They are not.

The younger generation, most especially those who are unmarried are more unfaithful. Those in their 20s and early 30s are most guilty. They are the most promiscuous. Once you are married, African beliefs and virtues does not permit married women to do such.

No, I don’t think so.
Why do you think so?
There are more randy women in other parts of the world. In South Africa, Kenya, the girls are randy. Even our Nigerian men in South Africa can testify to that. I don’t think Nigerian women are promiscuous. I will say that some women in Nigeria are unfaithful, that is why we hear that a man is not the father of his two, three or four children. Nigerians are religious and they care about societal values. They wouldn’t over step their boundary.

South Africans are very unfaithful, even in Italy, America, they have sex anyhow. Nigerians are value oriented. They wouldn’t want to be caught in what the society frowns at. I think that research is faulty really. I have married people around, they are not into such. Some have been going through challenges but they choose to stick to their marriage.

No, that can’t be true. I don’t believe it.
Why did you say so?
I don’t do it and I have friends that don’t do it as well. I didn’t do it when I was single, why will I venture into it when I am married. Any woman who is unfaithful is opening her door to the devil. Come to think of it. Is it for the fun of it or the material gain? She can get all from her husband. If it is material, tell him you need more of it so as to avoid temptation. I think, we shouldn’t make life complex by indulging in what we don’t need.

I don’t know about that. All I know is that, there are women that are faithful and there are women who are unfaithful.

Look at our high society people for example, look at how they dress. Even if I have not met most of them, one on one. I see their pictures on television and in catalogues. How many of them buy all the things they wear with their money. You can see how they dress now. I don’t believe it is their money they are spending. If it is their hard earned money, some will not be wearing what they wear to events. The question is, where do they get the money to buy what they wear?

Nigeria is blessed with so many virtuous women, even if some are unfaithful, it is just a few. Nigerians value culture, tradition and belief. They wouldn’t want to be caught in the web of shame. Most married women don’t do it. There are exceptions though, some are just too pervasive that they can throw caution to the wind and go all out.

I don’t agree to that. If they say men, I can say yes.
Why do you think so?
Men are more unfaithful than women. A lot of married men are unfaithful to their partners. I will say that more than 70 percent men are not faithful. I know of some men who had children outside their marriages and their wives are not aware.

A lot of ladies double date. They have the main guy, the ATM and the extra guy. You need to see them on campus. They want to belong, they want to use the latest phone, so they go out of their way to get money. Some even keep daddies.
If you are referring to the married women, I don’t think it is right to say they are the most unfaithful in the world.
