In response to the controversies trailing the merger of the two religious studies (Christian Religious Knowledge/Islamic Religious Knowledge), Federal Government has ordered the reinstatement of the subjects in school syllabus.
It would be recalled that several Nigerians had kicked against merging of Islamic Religious Knowledge and Christian Religious Knowledge, with most people saying the Federal Government was planning to scrap either of the two to make the
one left dominant.
Most Nigerians kicked against it because they observed that students were being forced to learn other people’s religion.
In order to avert commotion, the Federal Government has ordered that the two be separated.
Nigerians share their views on the
development in this chat with Encomium Weekly…
I give kudos to the Federal Government for doing what Nigerians want, thereby bringing peace back to the society. The former merging of the subjects didn’t really mean something big, people were just making a big deal out of it. Meanwhile, it’s good the subjects are back in place.
The Federal Government has done well. At least, people will stop nagging over nothing. It’s a welcomed development.
I like the idea of reinstating the subjects, it will go a long way in
maintaining peace among our religious groups. The FG has averted yet another conflict.
It is okay because I personally don’t see the need for the merger in the first place. Things like that will only cause commotion and social unrest. It’s good the FG made a U-turn on this.
It is a good thing as far as the students can cope with it. If it won’t be a burden to the students in school, then it’s good.
